18th Annual St. Paul Limited Average Mixed Team Challenge

The 18th Annual Limited Average Mixed Team Challenge was held on December 14th at Drkula’s 32 Bowl in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota. This tournament is an all Baker Format style of bowling where the first bowler bowls the 1st and 6th frames, the second bowler bowls the 2nd and 7th frames and so forth. This year we had 32 teams in the tournament (32 lane center). The teams consist of 3 men and 2 women or 2 men and 3 women with a maximum combined average of 950 with a 90 % Handicap.

 The top prize of $600.00 for first place was not the only thing the teams were shooting for as we ran brackets during qualifying rounds and Gold, and Silver Medals were awarded for First, and Place respectively. Thanks to all who participated in brackets as we were able to have some nice payouts to our teams and were also able to cover our expenses.

During qualifying competition the highest game bowled was a 270 by “The Neighbors” in Game 9. On Track Egan led the qualifying round with an average of 203.0 in 10 games. The average to cash was 189.2 and the average to advance to match play was 195.5. Also during qualifying there was a prize of $125.00 for the first team to bowl a 300. Since that feat was not accomplished, we held a drawing for the non-cashing teams and “Mean and Lien” received the $125 award.

At the end of match play, the team of On Track Eagan was in first place, “3 X 2” was in second and Drkula’s 32 Bowl was in third.

In the stepladder semi finals, “3 X 2” bowled games of 173 and 194 for a total of 367 and Drkula’s 32 Bowl bowled games of 175 and 234 for a total of 409 and advanced to the final championship match.  In the finals, On Track Egan bowled games of 185 and 187 for a total of 372 and Drkula’s 32 Bowl bowled games of 214 and 170 for a total of 384 to win the 18th Annual St. Paul Mixed Team Challenge.
